Let’s get started!

Okay, so we have a Blog.  How does it work?  We will be using our Blog in conjunction with the novels that we are reading in class.  To get to the page on the Blog where you will be completing your work, just click on your homeroom teacher’s name and the name of the book you are reading.

Let’s practice creating a post.  Post your response to the following question.

What is one goal that you have for yourself in Reading this school year and how do you plan to accomplish that goal?

Once you have made your posting it will be forwarded to my e-mail.  I will have to approve the post before you will be able to view it on the Blog.  This is one of the great safety features of this Blog!

Now you’re set!  Go ahead and visit your novel page and complete the assignments on the page.  If you have any questions, make sure you let me know.

    I want to read 15 chapter books so I can go to the carnival. I am going to acheive this goal because i am going to read as much as I can.

    Hi class,

    My goal in reading is to get more acclerated readers and I’ll be albe to achevieve that goal by maybe reading about an hour a day instead of 15 minutes and maybe another way will be to check out 2 or maybe even 3 books from the library and if i can all that reading in the litature circles reading hatchet and the acclerated readers thats so much reading and just might help me when SRI comes around

    My goal in reading is to read 2 books 1 part of a book and then the other half and i’ll acomplish that by watching no tv for 2 days and read alittle wehn i go to bed.

    One of my goals is to read atleast 20 bigger books than I read last year before the end of the school year. I am going to accomplish it by reading at lunch,in quiet time,at home,in reading class,and in sience and social studies. And also because I love to read,and I read about 15 big thick books over the summer from the library.

    iwant to reach 25% or greater really soon by reading 30 minutes every night because i am a very good reader and i am going to acheive that also by using my extra time so i can get my stickers and take lots of quizs for this year.and if when ever i do i will try to reach 50% and by the end of the year i am going to try to reach 100% and i want my lexile to be inbetween 800 and 900 so i can get my reading alot better

    I only got to the 3rd dog tag last year.So my goal is to get all four of the dog tags. Im going to do that by reding 2 books a media cycle and to take my time reading and on the quizes.:) Also i want to improve my Sri to 300 to 400 more points.by listen to and reading question.

    My goal is to read as many books as i can. So i can go to the carnival and other events in school. It would be a cool thing to do for fifth grade.Plus to keep my grades up to A’s,B’s and to bring my SRI score up.Hope fully all the fifth graders dream on this blog will come true.If our dreams come true we all will go to the carnival and to imnprove in life and to be a great reader!

    You will never like every book that you read in class. However, I hope that you will like most of the books that we read. Hatchet is one of my personal all-time favorite books. I also really like Island of the Blue Dolphins. I’m glad that you are enjoying it also.
